Interview: Olympian Krista Guloien on What Happens When the Endorphins Fade

Athletes often live highly publicized lives during the Olympics, but rarely do we hear about what goes on once they step off the podium. With her first book, Beyond the Finish Line: What Happens When the Endorphins Fade, Olympian Krista Guloien is sharing her journey to win a silver medal in rowing at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and the emotional and physical battles that followed.

As a two-time Olympian and silver medalist, Canadian rower @kristaguloien is no stranger to struggle. But when she began navigating life outside of the world of pro-sports, she realized there was little guidance or discussion around the transition from high-level athlete to "reality."

Krista spoke with Novus about her first book and how she hopes to shed light on the hardships athletes face post-retirement.
